Anyone can shave a pet... It takes a professional to Groom your pet.
THE SIMPLEST ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION IS: EXTREMELY SMALL DOGS REQUIRE MORE TIME. IT’S LIKE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TYPING ON A REGULAR SIZE KEYBOARD, & TYPING ON THE KEYBOARD ON A SMALL CELL PHONE. EXTREMELY SMALL DOGS REQUIRE MORE ATTENTION DUE TO THEIR SMALL SIZE & FRAGILITY. A VERY SMALL DOG WILL OFTEN TAKE AS LONG, IF NOT LONGER TO BE GROOMED THAN THEIR LARGER COUNTERPARTS. WE ENJOY GROOMING DOGS OF ALL SIZES AND BREEDS (OR MIXED BREEDS). PRICE IS DETERMINED BY TIME SPENT GROOMING A PARTICULAR DOG & THE EXTREMELY SMALL DOGS CAN BE LIKE GROOMING A HAMSTER, OR PUTTING TOGETHER A SHIP IN A BOTTLE, WHICH WHILE IT CAN BE DONE, DOES REQUIRE MORE TIME, FOCUS & ATTENTION TO DETAIL TO BE DONE PROPERLY. =)
Why can’t the groomer give an exact price quote?
Why aren’t there discounts for extremely small dogs? (i.e. 2-10lbs)
We get asked this question a lot when answering calls requesting a quote for a specific breed of dog. The best we can do is, to give a starting price, and say what the average price for that breed is. Prices depend on condition of the dog, behavior, the size and the difficulty of the haircut. We cannot, without working on your dog give you an exact price, and prices quoted are for dogs in healthy, maintained condition, dogs excessively matted or who bite will be extra.
Another reason we quote a starting price is because there can be a huge size difference even within the same breed of dog. For example: these two poodles in the middle. They’re both miniature poodles, who get the exact same haircut & there is only a 4 pound weight difference between them, but as you can see from the pictures, one is significantly larger than the other. There is no way for us to know this over the phone. The starting price for grooms for most breeds is $50. To see what is included with a groom please see our ‘services’ page.
Here is another example. Both of these new clients called the same day, both with Yorkies. As you can see from the picture, there is a vast difference between these two dogs. And yes, they are both Yorkies, over the phone there is no way for us to tell which dog, (or in this case both) will be coming to visit us for their spa treatment.
